Traxxas and WSORR Visit Oshkosh

For
the first time in twelve years short course off-road racing headed
south to Oshkosh, Wisconsin for a weekend of action-packed World
Series of Off-Road Racing under the lights. The WSORR Nights of
Thunder Double Header presented by Traxxas featured the #4 Traxxas PRO
Light on the program cover and limited edition event t-shirt. Local
fans packed the Oshkosh Speedzone Raceway grandstand to watch ten
classes of racing from the Light Buggies to the 800+ horsepower PRO
trucks. Fans were literally right on top of the action and the short
course track kept the trucks fender to fender and the racing close.
As
the Official Radio Controlled Car of WSORR, Traxxas® was on-hand
displaying the full range of Ready-To-Race® vehicles, including the
new Pro 4WD nitro Slayer. Two lucky winners were presented with 2WD
electric powered Slash short course race trucks by signing up for the
Traxxas Slash Giveaway at the Traxxas booth. Stop by and sign up to
win a Slash at the Bark River and
Crandon
WSORR races next month for your chance to win a Slash. Race fans had
the opportunity to drive the Slash at the Traxxas try-me-track, which
was open all day on both race days and it is free for everyone. Be
sure to get behind the wheel of the 30+mph hobby class Traxxas Slash,
modeled after our full-size Pro 2WD Traxxas race truck at future World
Series races.
Stepping
in to race the #4 Traxxas FC Potawatomi PRO Light truck for Jeff
Kincaid this weekend was Light Buggy and local Oshkosh driver Matt
Gerald. Going into Oshkosh Jeff Kincaid held a considerable points
lead and Matt was given the call to pilot the #4 Traxxas truck on the
tight Oshkosh track. On Friday night Matt followed instructions,
putting in smooth and consistent laps for a fifth place finish that
achieved the objectives of keeping the truck in one piece while
securing points.
Matt
was given the green light to push the 300+horsepower Traxxas sponsored
PRO Light to its limit on Saturday night. Going up against a full
field Matt made a hard charge working his way through the pack passing
three trucks in the infield to move up to fourth early in the race.
Keeping pace with the leaders, Matt ran in fourth for the next four
laps before going into the infield berm hot, where he caught a rut
that hooked the truck to the left leaving it high centered on top of
the berm.
After
being pulled off of the berm the #4 truck held the same track
position, but was one lap down at this point. Matt made up one
position, crossing the finish line in 7th place, earning valuable
points and keeping Jeff Kincaid in the WSORR points lead by 5 points
going into Bark River, MI on August 9-10.
Thank you to the World Series of Off-Road Racing and the Oshkosh
Speedzone Raceway for hosting the inaugural WSORR Nights of Thunder
Double Header presented by Traxxas. |
