GERALD RACING TEAM LLC AND FOREST COUNTY POTAWATOMI TEAM UP FOR 2008!
GREEN BAY, Wis. -- WSORR Light buggy driver Matt Gerald recently announced his
partnership for the upcoming season. Matt, one of the top light buggy drivers in
WSORR is now being partnered with The Forest County Potawatomi; the team feels
they can really be a title contender for 2008.
Gerald’s 2007 season was full of lots of ups and downs. Matt won one race and
had several top 5 finishes. Gerald led the point’s championship a couple of
times throughout the season. The World Championship weekend in Crandon was not
all that kind to the team; while Matt was leading the World Championship race,
contact with another driver caused Matt to retire early.
Sunday’s race was not any kinder to Gerald and his team, as they passed into
second place, contact in turn one caused Matt to barrel roll approximately six
times at 70 mph destroying the car and breaking Matt’s knee cap. Days later
Gerald had surgery and was forced to sit out the last weekend of the year.
Soon after the season Flying Dutchman Off-Road lead fabricator, Mike Vanden
Heuvel along with Crew chief Curt Gerald, started construction of the new car.
The car should be completed shortly and will be ready for pre season testing in
May.
Matt and his team will debut their new race car May 16th-17th in Owatonna, MN at
the Steele County Fairground's Owatonna Off Road Raceway for a tune up race
before the WSORR season opener at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, MO May
31-June 1.
Forest County Potawatomi, Goodyear Tires, and King Shocks will be behind Matt
for 2008.
